Islamorada Kapok-Filled Comforter

Islamorada is crafted in Canada in a BSCI factory. BSCI provides a system that helps companies gradually improve working conditions in their supply chain.
The outer fabric is 100% cotton and Oeko-Tex 100 certified.  This all-season comforter is filled with Grade A silky kapok fiber making it lightweight, soft, and pure. Like silk, kapok is temperature regulating and wicks off moisture. So, it is warm in winter and cool in summer. The locked baffle box construction keeps the fill in place and allows the fill to loft to its maximum level. The sewn-in corner loops for attaching to the duvet cover keep it securely in place.  

Not familiar with kapok? Kapok is a cellulosic fiber that comes from the soft, fluffy seed covering of the kapok tree, which grows in rainforests and tropical climates. The tree produces pods, and the kapok fiber is in the pods. The trees continue to produce pods year after year. The pods are harvested without cutting down the tree. Insects are not attracted to the trees, so no pesticides or insecticides are needed for the trees — our kapok fiber is grown naturally.  Kapok fiber is the lightest natural fiber in the world, is composed of 80% air, is 8 times lighter than cotton, and is hydrophobic, vegan, and completely natural. Kapok fiber is breathable, clean, and contains great thermo-insulating properties.

Care Instructions: Always use with a duvet cover.  The fill is cleaned to uncompromising standards so regularly laundering the comforter is not required as long as you keep the duvet cover clean and launder the duvet cover. Please remember that the sun is a natural antibacterial and disinfectant. If cleaning is required, please follow these steps. Spot clean with pure soap and a damp cloth. If you must launder, use a minimal amount of pure soap in cold water on a gentle cycle with an extensive rinse cycle. The key is to make sure the soap residue does not remain on the fill, as this will drastically reduce the loft and fluff of the comforter. To dry, either line dry or machine dry on air-dry setting.
